Something Good Happened #ROW80 Update

My Goal: 1 hour, but minimum 30min of writing fiction during workdays and 2 hours any day I’m not working.

I’ll tell you how the rest of the week went, but first I want to talk about yesterday.  A buddy of mine needed help moving, so after work I did that along with some other guys.  The job turned out to be much bigger and more time consuming than anyone expected.  Needless to say, I got home late and was too tired to get any writing done.  All I wanted was a shower and dinner.  While in the shower, I thought how weird it would be not to write.  I’m not sure if I ever truly felt that before.

I suppose the schedule I’ve been on has made writing a more regular part of my life and when I don’t get to it, it’s weird.  So yeah, aside from yesterday, I wrote something everyday.

Anybody else get that weird, “There’s something missing.” felling if too much time goes by without writing?

Info stuff- Follow my ROW80 progress every Wednesday and Sunday and be here Tuesdays and Thursdays for new posts on me, writing, superheroes, monsters, comics and any other geeky stuff on my mind.

  1. I’m starting to get that way. I sometimes have to make myself sit down to write, but I do get that nagging voice in the back of my head that gets louder and louder until I actually get my writing in every day.

  2. Yeah, I’ve been feeling that for the past few weeks. It’s killing me. I just can’t write and do the work I bring home from my job. It’s just too much. But I’m not taking work home this weekend! No way.

I used to feel this way about exercise, too. I missed it when I didn’t do it. I would love to feel that way again. LOL

  3. I know I get that feeling. If I don’t write for over two days or so it starts to get really bad–thankfully I usually get the chance to squeeze at least a little writing every day.

  4. Nice! Congrats. It’s a good sign.

Personally, I find writing is a great way to relieve stress throughout the day. So yes, if I don’t get to write for some reason, I do feel off balance and strange. I also noticed I’m a little cranky when I don’t write, lol.

  5. I think that’s a fantastic revelation and speaks to you being on the right path, so go follow it! And yes, I’m starting to feel more that way on a daily basis.

  6. Yes, it’s a good sign. You’re on the right track. 🙂

  7. I sometimes get that feeling. Good for you for getting into the routine.

  8. @CM and Katy
Thanks you guys for the support! Makes me smile.

  9. That’s good – you’ve formed a habit. It used to be I felt like something was missing if I didn’t read everyday. Now if I don’t write everyday, I miss it. Starting out with my day with morning pages has helped with my creativity. Plus a weird side effect. I find myself reaching for non fiction and writing notes about what I read, versus reaching for fiction.

  10. That is really awesome, Andrew. I can remember feeling that way. Not lately. Mostly I’ve been banging my head against my desk. But it’s a great feeling when writing becomes a habit, kind of like if I forget to brush my teeth and try to go to sleep anyway. It just feels wrong and I have to get up and do it no matter how exhausted I am.
